Mains drainage

Celebrating the completion of works at New Romney with local MP Michael Howard.

As part of our work for Southern Water, nearly 2000 households have the ability to be connected to mains sewers for the first time.

Schemes at New Romney, Greatstone and Lydd-on-Sea in Kent and Dormans Park in Sussex have meant properties are able connect to mains sewers for the first time. Prior to the works these residents relied on private sewers and tanks, which were prone to leaking and causing environmental damage and smells.

Mains drainage work is about more than just laying pipes in the ground. At New Romney and Greatstone along with new sewers, six new underground pumping stations were built to ensure the properties had access to the mains sewer and treatment facilities.
