We realise how important it is to help children understand the hazards of building sites to prevent accidents occurring.
According to the Heath and Safety Executive, more than 530 children have been killed or injured on construction sites in the UK in the last five years.
More than 3000 children in schools across the south east have learnt about the dangers of playing on construction sites through 4Delivery’s Health and Safety school talks programme.
4Delivery's dedicated community liaison team carries out these talks at schools close to sites where work is taking place. The talks feature interactive elements such as children being shown the safety clothes worn by staff on site to help them understand why playing on sites can spell danger.
The Headteacher at Fishbourne Primary School said:
“The talk promoted a great deal of discussion in class and really heightened the children’s safety awareness.”
